The CIGoGreen Guide & Campaign promote low-impact living at the individual level and resource efficiency at the local, regional, national, and global scales. Underlying the guide and campaign are two core beliefs: The time to act is now, and everyone can make a difference.
What does it mean to go green? It means acting in ways that may be described using adjectives like efficient, renewable, organic, locally grown, clean, recycled, natural, locally sourced, creative, environmentally preferred, restorative, and nonpolluting.
This website brings consumers together with local businesses and organizations that carry green products and provide green services. It also provides action plans and information resources for residents, visitors, businesses, organizations, agencies, officials, and communities. It has been developed through the Cape & Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative (CIRenew).
CIRenew was formed in 2000 to bring together individuals and organizations with common interest in a sustainable energy future. Over the past several years, community planning activities conducted through CIRenew have revealed strong consensus among participating stakeholders and decision-makers regarding the adverse impacts of the present-day energy system, the benefits associated with increased efficiency and reliance on renewables, and the need for concerted action.
