“Community Energy: Solutions for Your Home & Our Future”
Nantucket High School Gymnasium
Nantucket residents looking for help in saving energy and money and staying warm and safe this winter are encouraged to attend this forum, which is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and the first 100 attendees will receive an energy-saving gift provided by National Grid.
The forum will feature presentations and information on the free energy audits and other services available to all local residents and businesses, as well as the rate discount, fuel assistance, and weatherization programs provided to low-income consumers. In addition, representatives from National Grid, energy relief organizations, fuel dealers, and other service providers will be available to answer questions and provide help.
The forum also will highlight Nantucket’s energy future, including short presentations on the Cape & Islands Regional Energy Action Plan and on the energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives being pursued by the Nantucket Energy Committee. Exhibits will feature local businesses providing green building, efficiency, and renewable energy services.
“With a down economy and high energy prices, this is going to be a difficult winter for many local residents,” says Maryanne Worth, director of the Nantucket Council for Human Services. “The Community Energy forum is a great opportunity to learn how you can help yourself and help your neighbors.”
Cosponsors of the forum include National Grid, Nantucket Council for Human Services, Nantucket Center for Elder Affairs, Nantucket Planning Department, and CIRenew.
