The Cape & Islands Go Green Guide - CIGoGreen - promotes wise decision-making at the individual level and resource efficiency across local, regional, national, and global scales. Underlying this campaign are three core beliefs:
- Everyone is an energy stakeholder.
- The time to act on energy issues is now.
- You can make a difference.
These beliefs are shared by participants in the Cape & Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative (CIRenew), a diverse collection of individuals and organizations with a common objective: To accelerate progress toward a sustainable energy future for Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
This website, like CIREC itself, represents a forum for collective action. It includes two main types of content, as well as interactive features:
- CIGoGreen: A Guide to Sustainable Living provides information resources to help you take action, including the “Green Pages” business directory; decision-making tools for consumers; maps identifying green buildings, installations, and places; a calendar of energy events; and case studies.
- CIGoGreen: Action specifies steps Cape & Islands energy stakeholders can take to help promote a sustainable future. The buttons in the vertical navigation bar at the left identify tips to help you go green. Action plans, in the horizontal navigation bar at the top, specify things that residents, visitors, businesses and organizations, students and schools, officials and agencies, and communities should do in the near term to save money and reduce emissions. These actions will support long-term goals relating to energy independence, economic development, environmental quality, and climate change.
- The CIGoGreen Forum provides an opportunity for you to get involved by asking questions, giving impressions, sharing experiences, and motivating others.
