The Nature Center at Wellfleet Bay Audubon Sanctuary, completed in 2006, is not your standard renovation and expansion project. In this case, bigger is better: Its features are expected to add up to a LEED Platinum Rating, the first achieved in the Cape & Islands region:
- Green building practices, materials, and finishes
- Highly efficient building envelope, air handling systems, and equipment
- Solar photovoltaic and solar thermal systems
- Composting toilets
- Greywater recycling
- Ecological landscaping
